Injection of the medial collateral ligament

Patient Positioning

Patient lies supine, leg externally rotated, knee 20-30 flexed.

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer on a oblique plane in orientation of the medial collateral ligament over the femoro tibial joint.

note: patient with degenerative osteoarthritis of the knee. After injection of the knee with hyaluronic acid, the patient still suffered from periarticular pain. Clinically and by ultrasound no signs of anserine bursitis were present and the distal medial collateral ligament was tender to palpation. After injection of the medial collateral ligament with hyaluronic acid, the pain significantly improved.
